C & J's Family Restaurant

This place is like no where i have ever been, like fine dining married diner experiance! Incredible! My husband and I sat down at 11am on a Saturday morning and were immediately seated and given a menu but the owner himself. Our waitress was very kind, attentive and saw us quickly! My husband ordered the country fried steak and I ordered the french dip shaved prime rib stand with onion rings. The presentation of the meal was unexpectedly beautiful and the food itself was absolutely delicious! We were also told about their new mixed drink options which were more advanced and diverse than expected, and the owner took time to show us their table side grill experiance (Food cooks at the table) which is something I would have expected to have to drive to GR to find! 10/10. We'll be back!

Sorry it took me so long to get to this, John. On February 1st we went to C and J's Family Restaurant for the first time with a large group of friends we camp with. WOW! What a surprise! You walk in and the place looks like a typical country mom and pop joint, where you expect ordinary good home cooking. Well, this place is anything but ordinary. I was blown away! The food is literally gourmet quality. My wife and I got the table top grill. They cook the food in the kitchen and then deliver it on a small grill top container with a burner inside. The food stays not just warm, but hot. It included ribs, chicken strips, chicken wings, steak strips (so tender), shrimp, sausage, potato wedges, green peppers, and onions. Everything was incredibly delicious! We got there an hour before our reservation, so we sat at the bar and visited with John Northrup, the owner. We met Dan, one of the waiters, and Christy, the day manager. I mentioned to John that I was looking forward to trying their peanut butter pie (one of about 10 choices), and he said unfortunately he thought they were out of it. He walked back into the kitchen to check, and his head chef came out and told me they had run out, but she would make one for us. 30 minutes later she had it ready. Three of us had that for dessert, and like everything else there, it was incredible! This place has the variety, caliber, and quality of food you would expect in a large, fancy restaurant. I don't know how they provide it all out of such a small place. C and J's is truly a hidden gem! Probably the most unexpected surprise in dining I have ever experienced. It is an hour away from our home in Zeeland and so, so worth the drive. We can't wait to get back there, hopefully this week!

Went in with the family after visiting the flea market and had some lunch. Pickle wraps were amazing! Too much bread for the sandwich itself. Waitress was amazing! Would definitely go back just for the service alone. Was a very busy place and she was holding her own.

Visiting my parents for the weekend from TX and ordered pizza my last night in. Best Pizza ever! Great quality cheese, sauce, fresh toppings. Loved it, will be talking about this pizza until the end of time. Please open a shop in Texas we don’t have any good pizza joints! -your new favorite customer

The atmosphere is family-friendly and has a rustic feel. I always try to steak if available, and I ordered the tbone, especially, while my wife got black n blue ny strip..

We went for the karaoke. It was their first night. It was great fun and sitting outside was refreshing. Everyone had a great time

Tried this place for the first time and we were very happy. The interior is your basic Mom and Pop place, homey, kitschy but clean. Large portions of food, decent prices and an excellent very friendly service staff!!! We had the pork skewers with teriyaki sauce (very good, fresh off the grill) and the fish dinner— enough for two on one plate! We are planning on coming back to try out their breakfast! And we will certainly be back again for dinner!!

I was so hungry I ate everything. Had corn chowder, instead of salad. everything was amazing. I had strawberry shortcake my husband, heated apple pie/ ice cream.! Truly home taste
